Took this plane to a business trip to Qatar.
Here's a picture of downtown Kabul. Most of the downtown area looks like this...lots of dirt and worn out buildings.
This is inside the Queen's Palace. It was once occupied by the Russians during the 1980's. It's seen some hard time...mortars, rockets, vandalizm. Once they get back on their feet a bit, the Afghan Government would like to restore this building and make it a museum.
Here I am standing on top of the Russian Officer's Club. This is at the top of a hill outside of Kabul. Good view from up there but it's quite a hike! The building was originally a lookout post pre-Soviet occupation but the Soviets turned it into the O'Club.
Nice picture of the moutains surrounding Kabul.

Loved the pictures of Kabul. They paint a clear picture of how destitute the area is after all these years of unrest. I read Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. The author did a good job of creating an image with words that looks like your pictures.
Jason, Stay safe over there. You're in our prayers often.
Sorry, I didn't think it posted my comment the 1st time...so now you have 2 of the same. At least you know I'm thinking of ya! :)
